Project brief
Replacing the patio & steps for this customer was the order of the day.
We were kindly given the opportunity by the Methodist church to replace their old, tired looking and un-safe patio and steps in one of their properties in Bingham.
Here’s what we came up with!
The Methodist Church in Bingham approached JDL Landscapes because their existing patio and steps were looking tired, unsafe, and lacked accessibility. They wanted a welcoming, durable outdoor area that matched their property’s style while ensuring safety for all users.
We started by carefully lifting the old stones and preparing the base to ensure good drainage, level surfaces, and long-lasting performance. For the new patio paving, we selected Autumn Blend Indian Sandstone, chosen for its warm tones and subtle variegation which adds character without being overpowering. To complement that, we used 20 mm Cotswold Stone in surrounding areas to contrast textures and add visual interest.
The steps were rebuilt to ensure safety and ease of use. We incorporated mushroom resin grout in the joints – this type of grout offers flexibility and is less likely to crack, helping maintain the integrity and neatness of the paved surfaces over time. Edge finishing was handled cleanly, ensuring smooth transitions between levels and surfaces. The result is a patio and steps that feel safe, polished, and in harmony with the Church building, offering both functionality and visual appeal.
